Noise Surveys & Dosimetry Services

Industrial Hygiene & Occupational Health Professionals

When it comes to worker health, one of the largest threats of an area with large machinery isn’t always injury due to an accident, but permanent conditions obtained from years of working with a particular hazard, such as loud noises. Hearing loss is a threat to nearly any business that exposes workers to large or heavy machinery, including industries like construction, farming, manufacturing, and many more. These workers often experience reduced hearing abilities, ringing noises in their ears, and many other symptoms that will likely impact them for the rest of their lives.

At American Environmental Group, we understand that noise pollution can be just as important of a concern for your workforce as threats of mold, mildew, or other toxic exposures. Our team of qualified Industrial Hygienists is experienced in Job Task Investigations and Workplace Surveillance in industrial and commercial workplaces, including conducting Noise Surveys through dosimetry. We work with your team to collect relevant data through small, wearable noise badges that monitor exposure in order to determine the seriousness of the threat and make impactful suggestions on how you can improve on this workplace condition.

The Industrial Hygienists at AEG will perform Workplace Noise Surveys and/or Worker Noise Dosimetry to identify all areas and equipment and/or tools where workers are exposed to hazardous noise levels. Through this careful study, our team will figure out what the biggest sources of noise exposure are, whether workers are receiving adequate hearing protection, and how the overall conditions can be improved. Upon completion of the study, AEG provides solutions on how to reduce exposure through engineering or administrative controls, personal protective equipment (PPE), or better worker placement.

Here are some common sources of high noise exposure in the workplace:

  • Power tools
  • Pneumatic (air-powered) machinery
  • Gasoline or diesel-powered engines
  • Warning horns
  • Heavy machinery

All Noise Exposure Surveys are performed up to the requirements of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.95, Occupational Noise Exposure.
